Defender heater box cables

Hi All,

Ok todays job is to look at the speedo and the heater box as I have never had goog heating and I managed to pull the speedo cable out. The speedo is fixed hence the title being about the heater box.

Ok it has two cables, on on the top with I think directs cold air into or around the matrix, this is connected to the hot and cole air slider in the car.

The second one down the side of the box I think does a flap that varies the amount of air going through the matrix and therefore into the car.

The second cable on the side of the box is not connected to anything when I move the heater slide from cold to hot this cable does not move. To me it feels like this is the issue with my heating, apart from badly connected tubes which is another issue.

My question is, where should the cable go from the side of the heater box?

Have worked it out it was not connected correctly at the dash end and also the tube to the screen was out of its slot.

What was it connected to on the dash end? I was watching this thread because I've got a similar experience. Moving the two slides inside doesn't seem to affect the cable on the side of the box.

It wasnt, it should have been connected to the fan speen switch on the left hand side, all done now. I also put some tape about the tubes so hopefully they will not fall off again, but I lost a little screw and md nob wont go back on...

Cheers. I guess I should have asked what should it have been connected to...

I'll have to go and look at mine this weekend now. I suspect mine isn't connected properly either. Thanks for the tip!
