I've just switched to these and they make a lot of difference to night driving on country lanes but I'd say in real terms they only seem about 50% brighter than standard halogen.
I suspect that's what 150% means. The original 100% that the old bulb was giving plus another 50% extra. Otherwise they would say 21/2 times brighter, which would be a lie. 150% brighter sounds amazing, but also isn't legally telling a lie, so perfect sales jargon. That's how I read it, anyway. :rolleyes:
 
What they don't tell you is that the filaments will burn out quicker too. And if they're blue-tinted, chances are they're not actually giving much if any more useful output, just more glare.
 
I found a combination of a Boomslang Harness, WIPAC crystal light units and Phillips Nightbreaker bulbs give me headlamps which are as powerful as many new cars. Easy to fit and pretty cheap too.

I've done exactly that on both my 90 and RRC, the only difference being that I made up my looms using Madhatmans diagram and included extra fuses for future spots etc.
