Hello, I have a Defender TD5.
Recently it's started to make a really loud noise coming from the front offside wheel (I think). I'll be driving along and it's making a loud rubbing noise, quite high pitched but bloody loud. It only makes it once every revolution of the wheel. I've had the wheel off and checked for any movement and can't feel anything loose or even anything with play in it. I've jet washed the lot and given it all a good clean. The break pads have life in them still and the disk has no evidence of unusual wear. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how to fix it?
Any advice would be great.

It would be worth jacking up each wheel in turn and spinning it by hand to see if you can replicate the noise. I had a noise which I was convinced was at the front after a disc and pad change - turned out it was completely unrated rear wheel bearing!

I have a similar issue.
Seems markedly worse when in full lock maneuvering.
Same for you ?

Bit of a long shot but have you tried checking diff and swivel levels just in case something is starting to run dry?

Oh and what about upper and lower swivel bearings - if either one has collapsed it could letting the swivel go out of alignment?

I had a squeaky noise last year that was progressively getting worse and it turned out to be one of the brake pads. The friction material had separated from the metal backing plate. So it's worth checking that they're all intact and not rubbing. They look OK when they're in situ but if you pull them out the damage becomes obvious.
