Defender Doors - fix or replace?

Interesting topic. Is this something to learn welding? Ie cheap mig welder from tool station and after a bit of experimentation with scrap, get the frame repair sections and get stuck in?

I only heard about SPL last week. Looked at the website and their stuff looks good. Pricey though. I had already bought my replacement doors, much cheaper britpart ones. My plan is to take the skins off, get the steel frames plastic coated (quoted less that £100 for three doors) the put the skins back on.
The hope is that they will last a very long timer after that.

Plastic coating will crack and trap moisture.

Personally I'd look into getting them galvanised if you can

Not a good choice with a aluminium door skin, as ti will have a bad reaction and the door skin will turn to powder.

Yes, Jam1, I'm going to investigate the galvanising option.

Best is repair the door frame and give it a good paint with rust resistance primer, and then a good paint, choice of color is yours

buy a cheap welder n fix yourself, easy to do n if you stay a landy owner it will pay for itself dozens of times over... repair parts are cheap n easy to fit, stick on loads of sealant to prevent any future steel / ally issues...
