Defender cd/radio connections

I have just acquired a secondhand Kenwood Kdc-50-50r CD player. I removed an old Sony CD player from my Defender and when plugging the new Kenwood in I found that the socket which was originally connected to the Sony didn't fit the Kenwood, however there was another connector loose which did nothing before fitted it. I now have the original plug that fitted the Sony loose. There is no power to the new unit though. There is another socket in the Kenwood that is spare. Should I have another adaptor to connect the old plug into the spare socket on the kenwood? I hope you can understand this. Thanks for any help.

A couple of pictures would help, the short loom should be radio specific but you should have 2 off 8 Way iso connectors. 1 does power the other does speakers. If you find these and fit the new radio short loom it should work.

nope not in the slightest...

in the vague hope it might answer your question, most stereos use the ISO plug, either straight into the unit, or on a short flylead which in turn may be hard wired or connected by a manufacturer specific plug.


this is an iso, do you have one that looks like that (sometimes the brown and black bits are seperate
