Got my Defender insured and back on the road. Started first time. I had forgotten what it was like to have dirty hands. Took it for a spin. The list starts.
Had to change a fuel pipe between the injectors as it was leaking.
Horn packed up.I have a air horn, I think the motor had seized up. Managed to bugger up the horn switch trying to get the horn to work. WD40 has sorted the horn but now needs a new switch. One on order.
Reversing light doesn't work. That will be my task for tomorrow.
Owning a Defender does help keep you occupied. My reliable car which doesn't have to be touched between twenty thousand mile services seems quiet boring.
Why do we like our Defenders so much??????????????

Because you can fix it - if your boring reliable car has a problem you'll likely have to pay someone with less mechanical knowledge than you to look at a computer readout and start changing parts until the fault goes away. And of course it is the coolest car on the planet!

My 110 TD5 has been pretty good. I bought it at 56,000/9 yrs old and In 24,000 miles over two years l've only had to do bits and pieces, it's actually been better than the Transit van l bought new in 2008 for reliability.

Fitted a metal grill behind the Defender front grill. I recently fitted a new rad and front grill, I noticed some stones have already damaged some of the cooling fins on the Rad so hopefully this piece of metal behind the front grill should protect the Rad.

only on a defender could you get away with a bonnet lock like that.

nice idea with the grille, might copy that
The previous owner had the bonnet lock fitted. He used to go to Morocco every winter for about seven years. He said if things weren't nailed down the locals would nick them.
