Defender 90 roof liner material question?

Hi new to the forum not sure if this is the right section to post so please feel free to move to appropriate section anyway just a quick question what material is the roof liner on a defender i have the grey material and it seems like its vinyl/ rubbery i only ask as i would like to change the colour to black and have ordered some dye but not so sure now if it will work and its not the furry type of headliner you usually find in cars has anybody dyed theres with good results or isit better retriming it with carpet/ alcantara?

I just changed the headlining and my Defender and used headlining material bought from a supplier on eBay, it’s not quite a match to the original but it looks a lot better than the very filthy stuff that was on there and saggy.

The original material I removed seems quite like plastic/PVC so I’m not sure if that will accept a dye but you could always try a test piece. If not I’m sure you will find plenty black headlining material on eBay and other sources
