Hi all,
Having a bit of a problem with my 90, I need to replace the lower rear shock bushes on my defender but when I go to do it the shock keeps spinning and the nut is on so tight I will end up rounding the bottom holding tap. Anyone have any ideas how I can stop the shock from spinning then I can get a breaker bar or impact gun on the bottom.

Thanks, Sam

Big grips or a strap. The other option is carefully cut it off or cut the shock off and buy some new ones. Not expensive and probably knackered anyway.

I concur with Anaconda, give it a shot but don't spend any real time on it, cut it off and fit new. Britpart cheapest work fine.

I cut the nut off my old ones, they were badgered anyway but I did manage to do it with out touching the thread, those really thin cutting discs on the angle grinder work very well!

i had the same issue when i came to take my rears off, couldn't stop it revolving. the thread was buggered anyway so i ended up buying two new Terrafirma rear shocks and intend to swap them soon. have just bought this today to help get the old ones off and the new ones on!!

filter strap

Hi guys, I used a filter strap round the shock and it worked!! Changed my lower bushes and now praying the old girl makes it through the MOT tomorrow
glad the strap wrench worked but i use chain link mole grips as the shock will then definitely not spin.
