why not have a think about what you want to do with your landy and go from there. there are simple options like steering guards, winch bumpers or you could go a bit further with internal/external roll cages.

If it was me and the college was paying I would go with more difficult = better grades and less for you to spend when you have to pay for parts :)

A few ideas:

- make an onboard waste oil filtering and diluting system
- make a ratchet winch
- make a snorkel
- make a roof top gun platform with ladder access
- make a twin turbo exhaust manifold
- make a sanky trailer

The on board waste oil filtering and diluting system sounds like a great one..any ideas what that involve, and what does it actually do? cheers

It's for when you want to use an alternative fuel such as waste engine oil or cooking oil for example. You'd pour the fluid in, it'd then slowly filter its self through a few membrane layers (your mums tights) where it is deposited into a large drum / container at the bottom. Then you'd add 10% white spirit or kerosene to thin it down, mix it thoroughly and it's then ready to be tapped straight into your fuel tank as fuel. Obviously if you're using veg oil you need to remove the glycerine ideally, but that's not as straight forward a process as thinning it down and mixing it unfortunately. Most people just whack straight veg oil into the tank anyway.

a cubby box would be a good thing to design and make. you could do quite a bit with that. One of the lads that goes to my 4x4 club made a cb holder for the headlining for his project

3/4 cab conversion with some kind of twist like a shootin hatch, side exit exhaust, i like the water tight idea it bloody would be unique then

design a custom winch bumper, then you can design it, CAD model it, do an FMEA analysis, stress and forces testing, fatigue life etc etc if thats whats you course is about!

Im currently designing a tyre traction testing rig for landrover at uni

Yeah - I'd go with rear winch bumper possibly and / or rear wheel swing away carrier.
Shed loads to get into there to make a good A2 project.

FMEA / stress analysis goes way beyond what is necessary for A levels these days.

Did a wheel carrier for part of my A level DT project in '95ish!
