yeah i do to, going to think about it. For the swap would be able to use his tools and stuff at his workshop.

I am not sure, off road the 2.5na is great, it is its natural territory where it seems happiest.

just sucks on the main roads lol

i was going to ask also, who is running their 2.5 n/a with 7.50's, because everyone seems to think that it will be really under powered and gutless! is this true or can i go ahead and get all my wheel and tire package,and get my service items and all my parts for my new addition! its abit beaten and to be honest shabby and needs some body work! but i want to get her on the road, and start using her asap, its my first defender and i cant wait to drive it!

Ran a 90 2.5 na as a daily runner for 2 years. Yes it was simple to fix and reliable but even when set up right it was frustratingly gutless in my opinion. Ok about town but on a good bypass or motorway it was very pedestrian, even for a Landy. It was alright at the time but don't think I could go back to one to be honest.

okay, cool,well i got it real cheap because they were selling it as a spares or repairs because of the engine being fooked! but it turns out it only needs a rocker shaft so im well chuffed! but i want a new set of wheels and tires, but i didn't want to spend 500 quid on a package when they might make it under powered like my 2.25! i am picking it up tomorrow so if you see a lime green 90 with go beyond written on the side its me, and i hope one of you works for the AA because i don't think this thing is going to be half as reliable as my 2.25 has been!

In my experience it will seem quite a bit more powerful than the 2.25, but don't expect miracles. They were never designed to be a motorway vehicle. The 5 speed box is a big improvement on the series, so you can sit at 50/55 all day, with less noise. And it will do almost 30mpg. That's about as good as a landy will be, no matter what engine.

oh good good,well ino the gearbox is better because its younger than the series ones and its got syncro's! And this may sound sad but i actually like the old diesel's, they make a nice noise when set up write and when they are labouring.
also driving a series 3 2.25 diesel is about as bad as it can get so i think ill love the 90,and may just keep the 2.5,because i don't mind the 2.25!:tea:.
:banana::banana:
and what are the cam belt intervals as well,are they the same as the tdi,i would think so! every 60k isnt it?
also you say it will sit at 55 quite happy,is that revving its nuts off,or not? because my 2.25 revs quite high around 55!

oh cool, well that will be sooooooo nice to be in silence,or nearly silence when doing 55! cheers every one for the replies,i will probably put more posts up as i go alng and try to put some pics up on here! thanks guys!
