My engine is doin the same just lately. Sounds like it fires on 3 then rev and fine.bit of blue smoke then slow speeds when accelerator is lifted off it puff blue smoke. Under hard acceleration itl give a blow of black smoke.np blue smoke once warm or normal running only once left overnight

The seals themselves are about a fiver.

You can get a compression tool that you use above the head only - they are about £20.

Ive only ever practiced this on a scrap head, but its really pretty easy to use the tool, compress the spring, etc. to get to the old seal.

IF you can be sure of the TDC position on each of the cylinders in turn, then the job really wouldnt be too hard.

2.5hrs @ 40/hr? Im sure it would take me longer, but most of that would be carrying tools to and fro from the car, and stressing as to if id got the right cylinder on TDC.
