Ive done some searching on here but cant find an answer for my quesion. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Theres loads of great info on here about coverting and some really good guides but to be honest I dont have the workshop/tool/space and more importantly experience to be able to take on ths job my self. Can anyone reccomend someone to do this conversion for me in the Herts area? If not Herts then I'm willing to travel/trailer to get the job done. Would be great to hear from you guys any experience in paying a company to do this. Thanks

Standard military 2.5 NA to 200 or 300 tdi. And i dont want a bodge job. I want it to last. This is for a MoD spec 110.

when i do 300 conversions i fit engine forward as in std 300 tdi change gearbox to r380,fit 300 floor plates tunnel etc that way std exhaust ,rad and pipes etc are all std this obviously costs more but is the best way imo,200s just fit in place of existing engine and modify bits to fit exhaust ,rad pipes intercooler pipes etc defender 200 is easier as it can be done with all std parts but are hard to find and more exspensive approx £1000 as compared to disco at £200 on

Im in Ware but willing to travel if there is nobody in Herts to do this. I'm not fussed if its a discovery engine.

Ever heard o Kings Langley Land Rover? Highly recommended. If you supply the engine Im sure they would do a great job fitting it for you.

Took us 3 days on and off and its all uses std LR parts nothing special except the exhaust down pipe. A couple of hoses are cut down but are genuine parts.

my point was that it is possible to fit 200 def or300 in using std parts for 200 tdi defebder or 300 defender ie exhaust down pipe would be unaltered down pipe for 300 tdi defender and wouldnt look or have the same draw backs as conversion ,200 disco while using std lr parts will be by its nature converted and a down pipe is allways going not to be std off shelf part nothing wrong with it as conversion but the 2 are different

I get what you mean James.

I'd prefer a std defender engine but at the time 4 or 5 years ago it worked out a £1000 more to do the conversion for the engine. I have a modified exhaust and all other parts are genuine with probably cost me a good £400-500 using s/h engine and quite a few new parts. A quick engine service t belt, water pump aux belts and so on.

I can do it. I have a fully equipped workshop and can manufacture all brackets ,exhausts etc in house to better than oe standards and I make bespoke sillicon hoses to do the conversion, not bits and pieces with joiners.

sounds great! Unless your stuck in the midde of nowhere i.e africa or middle east and you need a bespoke hose or part. I'd rarther use std items that I know I can get shipped anywhere in the world next day. All very nice having no joins maybe have a nice set made up but knowing i can use std parts is a BIG plus.

and was a big consideration when doing my conversion.

Lets be honest lots of shabby conversions out there plenty of home builds that are quite frankly bodged. I'm glad with my result and would do it to others and be happy with it knowing they wouldn't be stuck for parts in a couple of years down the line maybe 2 or 3 owners time..

So do you offer this as a service James?
