Defender 2.5 timing case question

Hi guys

Yesterday me and son fitted a new steering shaft then had to re-adjust the power steer belt that we only re-tightened the other week and whilst levering the pump to tighten the belt noticed that both the pump and alternator was moving ( defender 200tdi ) so decided to investigate, removed alternator first and found 3 of the 4 fixing bolts that hold the power steer pump bracket to the engine was missing and one still in tacked but loose and part of the timing case damaged where one of the fixing bolts screw into the timing case, the other timing case bolt hole was stripped and the longish bolt that goes through the engine block into a blind hole in the pump bracket was snapped but sorted that one.

so obviously i need a decent timing case and need to know will a 2.5TD timing case fit a defender 200TDI as i know the disco 200TDI one won't, would be very greatfull to find out

Doubt the td one will fit, and defender 200tdi ones seem like the proverbial rocking horse sh*t to find.

If the holes have stripped can yon not just helicoil them.?!

I suppose i could but its having the time to do it as son needs it for his new job travelling all over the place every day, we will just have to keep our eyes on it for now till we can sort it properly, might rig up a tempery bracket for it to assist whats holding it on now at the weekend

You can buy helicoil kits off eBay for little money and they are quick and easy to use
