Hello all!

My first post here!

Let me start by confessing that I am a Land Rover virgin. I am however a huge fan of the defender and hope to pop my cherry soon

I am looking into buying a late 90s Defender 110 Commercial. I am keen to use it as transport for my mountain bike and to allow me and the misses to get to far away hiking locations.

I don’t doubt the beast’s ability to deliver on all of these fronts but I would like to know how feasible it would be to convert the back into a basic camper. All I really want is somewhere we can sleep. I was thinking it would be great if I could fit two drop down bunk beds in the back that fold up. Save having to put up a tent etc.

Is this possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome to LRZ.

Sure you could. A friend of mine has a 110 camper, 2 fold down bunks and a double bed, gas heating, cooker etc... If all you want is somewhere to sleep then I see no problem. You could literaly just put to beds in the back if you just want to sleep. Any thing is possible with a LR.

Thanks for the replys guys!

Do either of you know of any companys selling these accessories or offering the conversions?

Cheers

Where in the country are you? I will get you some names relative to where you are.

Right I am off to grind rust of the bulkhead.

Thanks mate!

I am in Epsom, Surrey. I am fully expecting to have to travel to buy the truck and any upgrades.

Cheers

I was looking in LRI last night with my cup of cocoa, there are a few people advertizing i.e. Dormobile try their website. I rather fancy the tents that go on top, but that would bugger up my thoughts of turning it into a tilt.

Try yellow pages for caravan supplies.

Thanks mate

I am loving the magnollia roof tents but £1200 is a bit rich for my blood ;)
