I was hoping someone might be able to offer a bit of advice.
I’ve just replaced the brake disc, pads, callipers and wheel bearings on the salisbury axle of my 110.
Everything was going fine until I fitted the callipers..they go over the disc… ..just… but the disc is hard up
Against one side of the calliper.

There is a gap of about 5mm between the disc and the calliper on one side and wedged hard on the other.

I have had the hub off numerous times tried refitting the bearings, different pressures on the adjuster nut but no. Luck.

They are allmakes callipers and the only thing I can think off is using a file to remove some of the metal on the
Tight side of the calliper.

Has anybody else experienced this and is it ok to take a file to the callipers.

That, to be honest, doesnt sound right at all.
Are you talking about trimming the carrier ? or shaving a bit of the caliper itself ?

That does not sound correct at all. Do you have any pictures? Was the axle originally disc braked or was it a conversion?

I have an early Salisbury axle that I have converted to disc brake and that requires a 6mm spacer to centre the calliper which sounds about how far yours is out by. It is known as the diesel jim conversion as he is the one who first wrote it up on another forum LINK.
 
I have seen the mud sheld on the stub axel put on the wrong way and do what your describing.
worth checking.
 
Thank you for your replies. I think the non genuine brake calliper mounting brackets are the issue. Compared to the genuine part the castings are very rough and uneven. They need grinding down all over to get the things to fit.
Once you grind various bits down it fits ok behind the stub axle. Removing the extra material from the bracket moves
The calliper forward and into position.
