Decent Inner tubes - where the hell do i buy them?

Replaced all my Rangemasters last year as the tread had warped, Spent £600 on a new set with new tubes.

Shortly after this (say a few months) i started getting punctures, little pin prick holes.

I can't go a month without waking up to a flat :(

The inside of my wheels are not rusty

I came home to another one on friday night :(

I keep a trolley jack in the Landy its got that bad.

I had the person that supplied and fitted the tyres to do the last few repairs and he's said that when i've had other tyre shops repair the punctures they replaced the tubes he fitted with lower quality ones that are rubbing on the inside of the tyre and causing this.

He suggested getting Dunlop inner tubes but as yet i can't find any, same with Michelin as i've found these are recommended as well.

he's in the trade, cant he get them ? As he has supplied ****e he ought to replace them with proper ones gratis.
 
Ok thanks, do you have a link to a supplier by any chance?
I've been surfing the web most of the day and the only sites that spec land rover sizes don't state what the make of tube is which makes me a tad dubious
 
Ok, another question, does anyone run inner tubes from Britpart and if so whats your verdict on them?
I can't be the first person with this issue, my poor Landy has spent more time looking like a beached whale on my driveway than trundling around because of repeated flats, the other weekend i ended up with 3 flats and the most offroad it had been was on a farm track my transit travels regularly
 
thats a thought thanks, i need to do something so far at best guess i've spent about £250 on puncture repairs by patch or tube replacement, it's fast making my truck uneconomical to keep, not to mention making the £600 on the new Avon Rangemasters a complete waste of money. I'd understand if there was a sign of the tyre being breached or a nail or screw in them but aside from the spare going flat after i'd had a puncture earlier in the week it's always a pin prick hole in the tube and nothing in the tyre to cause it
 
Try a load of talcum powder in each tyre, it'll allow the tube to slide and squirm inside the tyre. If it doesn't work it's hardly expensive.
 
I really doubt the tubes are your issue, are the tyres supposed to be run with tubes? What tyres have you got?
 
I'm running Avon Rangemasters, 7.50/16's. states on the sidewall they are tube type, rims are the same and are OE from the factory. Had no issues with the original set of Avons, only replaced them because of what i'd think was tread warping due to age (while driving, esp when towing i'd find myself continually having to correct the wheel to keep a straight line, kinda like a twitch if that makes any sense)

Old Rangemasters had a ton of tread left on them, truck did 40,000 miles as the day to day work van before dads accident and we got a transit to use for business purposes when i took over the running of the firm.

Trucks one owner from new, no mods aside from my adding frt mudflaps and an erg valve removal, only just turned 60,000 miles on a 'Y' plate.

Worst thing that's happened to her is the old man neglecting the warning signs and the rear wheel bearings welding themselves to the half shafts, being in herts she got trailered to Almers Land Rover and came back good as new, not sure if this is a good reference point with regards to condition but my door hinges are original and have no play, the only real rust on her is from the old man not doing the alpine windows and windscreen seals when he should have :crazy:

The biggest bump this Landy's ever hit was on the A1m when an old boy in a fiesta in the middle lane swerved into the slow lane (and therefore under the Landy's wheels) while dad was driving.

Fiesta, write off, Landy (and trailer) literally went over the frt left quarter of the fiesta's bonnet. Landy, frt right wing was scuffed and a we the headlight,sidelight and indicator surround was cracked.

No punctures and evan after that still was still solid and allowed us to work 'til she could go in for repair.
 
Apologies for my replies being a bit long btw, it's got to the point where the old man is wanting to sell her because of the continuous flats and buy some VW, Toyota, Nissan pickup as combo replacement for the Landy and his Audi, he doesn't like the fact the above pickups aren't true 4x4's plus have cart springs on the back end and i feel this Landy is too good good to just give up on due flat tyres
 
It's gone from a working truck to my much loved and pampered toy, it's only ever seen polish twice (once by my hand second time by the carwash guys near me who i have to say did a sterling job)
I know mud and dirt are a landy's territory but with my issues atm i'm checking tyre pressures ever time i mount so much as a curb :(

If the punctures were caused by rubbing on the tyre, I'd expect to see some evidence on either the tyre or tube. The tyres are designed to be used with tubes. More likely are a few rusty flakes on the rim causing your punctures. If you have the punctured tubes, have a very close look at them for marks around the puncture site.
 
You shouldn't have to watch over tyre fitter's shoulders, but I do now.

I was having repeated punctures too, so got all the tyres off and painted the rims with several thick coats of good pant, so there was no way that there was rust.

Tubes and tyres back on, more punctures. This time I watched. There were stickers inside the tyres that had collected dust under the corners. Not a problem if used for tubeless rims. Disaster with tubes.

They'd also never heard of talc, so I took my own. Boots unscented in case you ask.
 
Is it possible somebody is stabbing your tyres with a sharp object? Any neighbours you don't get on with?

Sounds daft, but it seems odd that you are getting so many flat tyres, l've had one puncture in eight years on my Landy.
 
Shouldnt have that much of an issue, ive only had 3 flats in 3 years, and one was caused by the valve stem being the wrong size (came to me form previous owner like that)
Get the tyres off, and check the inside of them, some cheap ones are rough on the inside, which isnt an issue tubeless, but a bit issue for tubes, if rough, give em a rub down.

No idea what brnad my innertubes are, I get em from a place that does all the agri machinery round me, they wont fit ****e.
 
I found this a few years ago too. It was eventually put down to the 'ribs' on the inside of the tyre (tubeless and tubed type) rubbing on the tube and popping it. Could well have been poor fitting too as the place I kept taking it back to didn't seem to have much clue.

Dunlop and Goodyear do high quality tubes for around £20 apiece, but don't stick them into tubeless tyres as some numbnuts do! :crazy::crazy:
