I went to start the landy today and instead of turning over she just went "clunk".
I tried this a few times and every time the same thing happens, I tried rocking her in gear but still the same.
Then I noticed a small amount of smoke coming from the starter, I got a mate to turn they key for me when I was under there and the clunk is coming from the starter, so is the tiny amount of smoke and it's hot/quite warm to the touch.
She has been fine up until now, perhaps very occasionally hesitating for half a second before turning the starter.
Is it much of a job to replace and is there anything I should be aware of? Do I need any special tools?
Before I go ordering a replacement I just wondered if you lot think it sounds like the problem or could it be anything else?
Cheers.
