Is it the later model sensors (Post VA#######) that come with the "brackets" and if so, do they still need the rubber thingies?

Yes. The front rubber thingies as you aptly name them are part of the front sensors attached to the sensor arm. This rubber thingy slips over a pin attached to the front radius arms. The rear sensor arms only have right angled pin on them, no rubber thingy. The rubber thingy the rear sensor arms slip into is bonded to the rear radius arms. The later sensors can be swapped side to side but NOT back to front. Different length sensor arms. The adaptor brackets are there to reorientate the newer sensors. That have different hole centres than the older sensors and sit at a different angle.

So, in other words it looks like I'm rollocked regarding the ruddy rubber thingies! (Does it mean to get the propper setup you have to buy new radial arms?)

Yeah i suppose so, but they are about £800.00 each so a lot to pay for an additional piece of rubber.

Bl**dy hell. The height sensor is only £60 or so.
Typically enough, the earlier ones (I have) are more expensive. Grrrrr.

You have to find the rubber "bracket" and fix it back to the trailing arm ...... either using an adhesive or, as I did, a jubilee clip carefully aligned.
I prefer a mechanical fixing to glue, but that's just me, as there must be very good glues out there.
Without the rubber bit you are stuck unless there is another way of doing it .. I can't think of one right now, unless you can get something fabricated.

That is the latest one not the older one Grrrrr referred to. Can't be fitted to older cars without the mounting bracket.

Rubber bit? What rubber bit? That's my problem, the ruddy mech rollocked it all up. He chucked what he said was "brittle and falling apart" into the rubbish bin!

So how did he think the sensor was going to work from then on, by extra sensory perception? Get a block of rubber off eBay and make one.

Oh, Datatek, if that were possible. He already screwed us out of around €1,000.00 and even wanted another €300.00. When I hit him with what he planned doing about the balls up, his first reply was "Why are you starting to doubt my work" swifty followed up with "Forget the remaining money, use it for the new sensors and find yourself another Mech!"
I think that says about all there is about the cretin.

What do you think about using one of those "re-enforced" rubber hoses?
Something like the above, but more nearer to the original size. Cut down to size and it might work.

May work, what nationality was your "mechanic". I have found in Spain that the English rip off the English. Mind you ,it's the laziness of the English who don't learn the native language so are at the mercy of the con men. Just used a Spanish garage for work I was legally not allowed to do after a MOT (ITV) failure and found them cheap and efficient.

Look at top of rear arm just in front of where radius arm bolts to axle. It's the rubber bonded to the radius arm that the rear sensor arm slips into.

I just checked how I fixed mine.
I used the link from a front sensor and held to the trailing arm with a jubilee clip.
I aligned the rubberised eye of the link with the patch of rubber left where the original had been as well as I could, then checked all the suspension heights.
Has been fine for a year although I should check that the jubilee clip is still tight.

He's Portuguese. I know what you mean about language barriers and all that, but that's not the case here, I am bilingual. It was just a simple case o greed and trying to be a wise guy, but it backfired on him this time, yes ok, it might have cost me, but it's costing him a darn site more
