Look at it on diagnostics if you have diagnostics, or put a multimeter on it and watch for fluctuations in the reading as you move the arm from end to end. An analogue meter is best for this.
Is the car in hard fault mode? If it is, there will be a fault logged.

Ok, at the mo I can't seem to get the EAS Unlock Suite to play nice with our beast therefore I wanted to know if there was a way.
Should I have the beast running or just have the key at the 2nd position?

Running or in position 2 is OK.
Do you have the "Slow 35 mph" warning on the dash.

Yep (in my case 55Kmh).
It all started when I picked her up. My "Ex" mech had had her in to fit new shockers, Gen II and Polys all round, but the way he jacked her up... we shall just say he screwed up big time. On the way from his garage she dropped onto her stops and now is sitting in front of our flat waiting for some spare readies to get what is needed. So he over extended one of the height sensors. Are they all still mechanically connected?
Thermal switch should not be affected as the compressor will not run with a hard fault.

Good question. Where she is doesn't allow me to see if they are all connected or not.
Now, about being connected. During the last "chat" I had with the mech, he started to change his story and part of that change was he said the "rubber connectors" where the sensor arm connects to the radius arms had perished. Now I have been looking on a Micro-Cat for these rubber connectors and I can't find them. Do they actually exist or was it another bullcrap excuse of his?

The connectors are rubber and bonded to the trailing arms.
I broke one of mine and have now clamped it back on with a jubilee clip.
You need to trace exactly where the rubber bit was sitting by looking for a patch of the rubber left on the arm, then retrieve the broken off bit, align it and tighten the clip. Easier to do than explain. I did myself in a few minutes and I'm not as dexterous as I used to be!
To test a sensor, remove it, put it on the bench, connect an Ohmmeter and slowly move the arm. See if the resistance changes smoothly and compare with the readings from the other side.
You can swap them side to side which exposes an unused portion of the sensor's track.

Unfortunately the arms only come with sensors. They do have molded rubber ends that fit over a pin mounted on the radius arms. Maybe he has tried to flick them off and one has split. You need to check them if one has come adrift that will be your problem.

The rear rubber mounts are bonded to the trailing arms. Well, they are meant to be bonded but don't seem to adhere very well.
There is no pin and eye, unfortunately, like there is for the front ones.

The eye is on the trailing arm the pin is on the sensor arm. Same difference, if the rubber fails at either end the arm becomes detached. Plus he did say radius arms not trailing arms.

As to the rubber thingy, his lordship said it was perished and cracked, but he didn't say if he had removed it or not.
As for the sensors being swappable or not, I believe they are. I am saying this because the ones that fit our beast are the ones for the later models.

Ah, well, "remove" in this case would mean "break".
I don't think that this particular piece of rubber (or whatever it is) perishes as such.
Although mine came away in me 'and it was still flexible; it had come away before and been glued back.
See if you can get to it and check.

The ones fitted to earlier vehicles (pre 1997) are NOT swappable side to side. However later versions (1997 on) which are swappable side to side can be fitted to earlier vehicles by using adaptor brackets. And harnesses i believe.

Not sure, looks to me like the ones available for (pre 1997) are news ones (post 1997) but with the adaptor bracket and harness. Have a look at Island 4X4 and judge for yourself.

No both types use the same connection to the front and rear radius arms. The adaptor brackets fit on the chassis for the sensor to bolt to. Which apparently changes their angle of dangle. If you know what i mean. The early rears are wired differently to the later ones. The later ones front and rear are all wired the same. Earlier sensors differ in wiring front and rear.
