Dead disco 2.....every now and again

Hi all, new to the forum! Thanks for having me! After some possible advice on my disco 2, 2002 discovery 2, starts, runs ect fine, happended twice in 3 months now, can gonto the car and unlock off key (remote locking doesnt work) jump in and there is no power, nothing at all, like it has no battery on, left 20 mins last time, didnt touch the car or a thing, came back, eka code input, running sweet again, battery is good, charging ok, no drains on batt ect, could it be an earth fault? Thanks, lee

Check the little spade connector on the bottom of the starter motor. If it's loose or dirty, it won't even turn over. Unless you have no dash lights at all, - then it could be loose ignition connection.
 
Thanks for the reply, i have no dash lights at all, its lke someone has taken the battery, if you leave the car it comes back to lift?? Odd one, just after somewhere to start looking

Check the back of the ignition switch ...where the wires go to ...
 
Will check it out, although it affects everything, central locking ect, would an ignition fault would be the culprit but worth a check
 
As long as the dash is dead too it's something with the main power... eventually the fusebox if the battetry clamps are well tightened
 
Battery clamps are good, checked and fitted new clamps to them when its 1st happended, done it today, came, unlocked it by the key (all doors) went to start, nothing, used the wifes car came home 3 hours later, still nothing, checked fuse box under bonnet, power at the battery in terminal in there, still no dash lights, tested everything for power, went back, power at dash, eka code input....car locks/ starts ect fine.....could it be a relay ect in the fuse box?
 
Ive not checked to be honest.....im more swearing/ cussing/ damming my landy to hell i dont remember it flashing though
 
Well cant find a fault, car has been working fine everyday, everything looks good, any other thoughts? Obvious faults that may show easy? I know even when ive lost all elec power theres power at the fuse box under the bonnet, so its a fault from there on? Anything common ect that might be faulty? Tearing my hair out here

So, did you check what the red light was doing?

Its not faulted again so not had chance to check what its doing, it flashes as normal at the min lol, just checked everything possible, connections ect until it faults again

So it flashes, when it it sat there stopped and locked?, it flashes when you unlock it?, It flashes when you try and start the car?, it flashes when the car is running?

OK, get in the car and wait 60 secs, then put the key in and try to start it.

When the car is 1st locked it flashes really quick for approx 10seconds, once locked flshes approx every 2 seconds, car is running/starting fine at the min
 
Ive not checked, its not faulted since ive put this post up (typical ) ill check that next time it does it, trying to think back, from memory its not doing anything when car is faulting, everything dead, red light not blinking ect

As I have suggested above, try getting in car and waiting 60 secs before put key in ignition and see what happens, do it now or next time you get in it.

Does nothing, unlock, waited 1 mon then on to just over 2...nothing changed, car dash worked as normal once key put in amd turned
