Freelander was delivered this morning. The garage drove it to my house which is always a good sign. It's nice to know it can go 15 miles without killing anyone.

I have managed to get it into my back garden, just need to clear enough space in the garage now.

Photos to follow. Requests for advice to follow that!
 
Some pics from delivery day. Had to dismantle the garden gate to get it in, but we are now Off Road.

Now that's getting picky. Shall I weld them closed in a Dukes of Hazzard stylee?

Looks great but has some issues to resolve before it will get through an MOT.
 
Last owner built it. Has a loft and everything. He used to run his maritime diesel repair business out of it.

Side door and windows has steel bars and the up and over door weighs tons because it is acoustically insulated.

Floods though.
 
Nice hippo and garage. Wish my garage was that tall.

you do not need a garage hippo they only get full of stuff you are saving for just in case I have 5 garages and 4 and a half are full. the half full one it the missus garage and she will not let me put any more in there and her garage is about 24ft x12ft

Yer but no but I've only got 1 garage and it has a flat roof. All me stuff fit's around ma hippo so he can get in, but not enough room to work on it inside. That's not good if it's cold or raining. I also like the idea of being able to put it in the back garden and close the high gates so yer tools don't go missing. But we don't have that option. :(
 
What I really need is Hawkeye or Lynx. I have an engine warning light which, I think, is a misfire. I have 6 cylinders and don't want to blunder about chasing it down.

Also have a yellow brake warning which I think is down to a connection in the engine compartment just on the other side of the bulkhead to the steering wheel. The guy at the garage made the light go out by wiggling it...

Help please. This is a pic of the unit that causes the brake warning light. It is pretty obvious that something is wrong!

Could someone give me a pointer?

Not much help but it looks a little different to my TD4. On mine the white piece fits inside a moulding on the side of the reservoir with the plug facing the front. Looks like you don't have a place for it to go? Could it have had a different master cylinder fitted in its life?

Mine looks like this one but the sensor is on the other side (just pulled from eBay for the picture).

Cheers people. I have ordered one from Rimmer Bros.

Any recommendations for finding out the cause of a misfire warning?
 
We started the car this morning and were nearly poisoned by the exhaust fumes in the engine bay.

Removed engine cover and started the engine and there were lots of exhaust fumes coming from the near side of the engine. Photo attached. You can only just make out the smoke though.

Turning on the ignition several times didn't give fuel smells in the engine bay.

Lots of white smoke from the exhaust when the engine was running.
Any suggestions? Bearing in mind I can't get to that side of the engine because of where it's parked. :frown:

I should also add that the car sounded like a tractor.

Exhaust / manifold? Or could this be related to the cylinder 4 misfire that was logged?

I will happily clamber about over the car to look at things as long as I know where I'm going.

Loving this already!!
