Hi everyone this is my 1st post and i hope someone can help
On Sunday i was rear ended whilst at traffic lights, i had the gear selector in P since my parking brake developed a fault a couple of months ago and i don’t think my car was shunted forwards so it took the full impact from behind without travel or shunt to car ahead.
The damage to the car that hit me was very bad and mine only appeared to have a damaged bumper, myself and the other driver were ok so all good...i thought.
The problem i have is that my dashboard has ‘died’ whilst driving on each occasion since! Everything goes off and the dial needles drop below the digits so i don't see speed, temp, fuel etc! this has lasted anything from a few seconds to a few minutes before all appears normal again....until i then get warning lights for transmission fault, ride height, no special functions available and a couple more that i can’t remember but will take note of if it happens again.
Can this behaviour be caused by the crash or is it just sheer coincidence? please spare my blushes for when the assessor from the insurance comes to see the car i don't want him/her laughing in my face at a ridiculous suggestion...or is it?
Many thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum:)
Sorry to here of your plight, but a little help with what motor & year and so on we are talking about will help us to help you, then we can point you to the right section of the forum
but sounds like the smash has damaged some wiring at the back often what looks like no damage has bent all sorts behind the bumper.

If it is a P38 Rangie you get that symptom when the alternator brushes fail (I have had it twice). The Rev counter (tell-tale) and speedo drop to Zero as you are going along, and you get TC, ABS and "Gearbox Fault" coming up in error when there is nothing wrong with the subsystems themselves. So, if a P38, get yor Alternator checked. Mine suddenly did it when there was large "jolt" to the car from a pothole (similar to being bashed by another car). ;)

Thanks all for the welcome I realised i may have posted in wrong area so have also posted in Disco 3 forum and have some replies if you wish to follow progress etc
Many Thanks
