I will second using that Halfords install kit. It was very good. I also used a small rocker switch with an led as mine was plugged in to a constant feed on the fuse box and mounted it near the steering wheel so it was visible . Just made it noticeable when I was leaving the vehicle to switch it off or you could keep it on to record when out the car.

all because he had a argument with his wife and he had never been in trouble with the police before they said and I said well he has probably never got caught before and left his car parked in front of mine with the number plate showing.
Brilliant you helped catch him, usually the court is to lenient with these cases and you still end up out of pocket! In our local area we got targeted by a competitor - they did over £10k of damage! When eventually they got caught he was fined £300 - and suspended sentence with a £500 compensation to pay us!! Slashed 60 of our tyres, drilled three fuel tanks! The clean up cost me £1200 from the County Council!

All good Gen, thanks guys.
I bought a dash cam called Aguri Fusion. Spotted it in a mag add,£250 with a £50 discount.
Well made unit with 170 degree vis.Small enough not to notice to much,WAIT I didn't buy it for the camera but for Speed Trap warnings.
360 degree detection,K, X,Ka bands and laser, covers most of Europe.Well worth a look if you are considering buying one.
Running the cable from the fuse box was not to hard, it was recommended to use the Cigar Lighter fuse which is 20 amp.
A small "heads up" on fitting the cable.
Tools that I used were , Star and Flat screw driver , Wide Bladed Knife and 20 gauge stainless wire, bend the end over to form a hook.
I removed the plastic panel on the door pillar, it is the one that butts on to the head lining. Lever out from the bottom edge. There is now access to the fuse area.Ease out the outside edge of the pillar/head lining but before you do this check if airbags are fitted in that area,I turned them OFF. Remove the sun visor as the cable can be access through the hole in the lining.
The cable can be worked up the edge of the head lining tucking it UNDER the airbag to the top , the cable can now be worked alone the roof to the centre of the windscreen/rearview mirror.
DONT forget to turn the airbag on again.
