Alfa more fun than a freelander.....
Can help you with this one, bought an alfa, it broke, took it back, bought another one, that broke!! On the rare occasion either of them worked they were fantastic. But after dishing out over four grand keeping the second one on the road the Freelander looks like an angel.:D
Current problems with the Freelander = 1 Rear Diffs Knackered. 2 Rear sub frame needs welding. Sounds like a real Landrover to me:)
 
i bought the alfa as a toy so I don't care how long it takes me to get it going and MOT'd.. just need to get the landrover going again and then bring the alfa over here to tinker with..
 
Listen all. It's just jealousy of the non Freelander people around here, and that's it. But to show the goodwill towards their inferior equipped LR-brothers the UK FL-owners club decided to do a collection and with the raised funds they're going to buy a FL which can, on a rotation scheme, be borrowed by these inferior equipped persons. Just to give them, only every now and then of course, the feeling of driving a real good LR product so that they, if they have sense enough of course, know they made a big mistake in the past and they better rectify this asap, for their own good and piece of mind of course.

A superb idea Willo, but do you really think the neanderthal contingent could understand how to pilot such a superb machine. I mean, most of them can only repeat a few simple words like "doors.......(grunt)........doors fall off". Charge them a quid for every time they come out with that old chestnut & we'd collect enough dosh for a fleet of Freelanders.
 
Just paid £795 to fix fuelling problem on TD4, and shortly after a service. How damn good is that ? Is there a list of what does not go wrong ? Got to be lots shorter than the other list. And a 5 year old car with no height adjustable seat or outside temperature gauge. Lost in the 70's I think.
 
I agree love em, i may be just be a girl:p,but ive had more landy's in my time from Discos to Rangies than i can remember (i had horses) and now i have a TD4 Hippo ,apart from the 1.8 hippo i had before this which had the dreaded HGF :mad: so i pretend that never existed it was just a small blip,i have to say for comfort, fuel consumption and looks,give me a TD4 any day of the week,ive just come back from holiday with it towing a borrowed caravan:D it was awesome,i wouldn't hesitate to recommened one to anyone,ive even told my sister she should get one,i love mine....look after it and it will look after you.And for the record my doors are still on:D:D

Some remarks on this:

1. Who needs height adjustable seats, either pump up or lower the pressure in your tyres and the seating height (compared to ground level) will follow.:p

2. Outside temperature gauge. If you shivver, it's cold, if sweating it's hot. Who needs more ?? Besides when driving in real bad conditions and seeing the way some people drive I think the only purpose of such an outside temp.meter is to see, when really low temp., whether the driver will decide to leave the car home and take the bus. With the Hippo you can drive relax in all conditions, no need of sitting cramped at the wheel.

Well said. If my intellectual level would have matched Murano's, I would have said exactly the same... (take special care to read the 1.8 petrol Hippo was just a small blip, where those tractors a.o. are one giant blip....):p:D:D:D

£795 is a bargain compared to what some of the poor p38 dieselers have to spend on their fuelling systems, so it's pretty damn good. The folk I do have sympathy with are the good guys like poor old Greenie who tried their best but still had the odds stacked against them (just as many people have with every other make of car). Moaning wipes who winge on about their seats not going up & down and no external temperature gauge really won't get more than short shrift on here. As Chaser said, why did you buy it then?
