Couple of us going out on Sat 29th to check the route for the Dales Laning Trip around Settle/Hawes

Anyone want to join us

Right so we have Leah&Ollie, Me and possibly Paul so far, anyone else thinking of joining us

I might not be going, Landy is in bits and I dont know how to put it back together

Thats not good why take it to bits if you can not put it back together lol.
If not doing anything will come along for ride out, see if mine will stand the bashing
Time and day we meeting also place lol

I followed the instructions on here :D:D:D

Got stuck and now cant finish it and cant reconnect the air hose either unless I also remove the heater or the wing

Fitting a snorkel looked easy, dont ever believe it

Think if I push it onto the road Green Flag will believe it broke :D:D:D

Everything is OK :D:D

If I cant work it out tomorrow 3.5 efi is going to help on Tuesday :D:D:D

Paul D is probably coming as well so things are looking good.

Maddogminder and Paul are from Doncaster area and Leah&Ollie and me from edge of Leeds.

I have checked the route Doncaster to Settle and it comes through Bradford and up the Aire Valley. How about we meet in Shipley which is where the road from my place meets that route, will be OK for Leah&Ollie too. Its possible Nrgserv may join us as well and it would be convenient for him.

I can do anytime, anyone else got a preference

Wahey, we're coming!

Didn't think we could but it's all good now. We're driving up Friday, camping, doing the recce Saturday then camping again and meandering home Sunday .. might get some of the Sunday route in too .. ;)

Where are we meeting for the start? I'd suggest the campsite, Dalesbridge as that's where Sues' route starts anyway .. we're not staying there this weekend, we're elsewhere roughing it for £3 a night!! Time? 9.30 for 10am start??

paul, what area are you stopping in?
reason i ask is that i know most of the lanes round settle are driveable to all, and i need to watch the miles and diesel for a recce run.
lanes i'm unsure about are those round aysgarth and possibly a few north east of aysgarth? cant remember the names without looking at a map!

rather not drive the entire route, just recce the lanes that need it.
i'll also have the nipper in tow saturday, and that also dictates how much i'll be able to do!!

Had an idea, if Paul sets off from Settle and you set off from home would all arrive at Aysgarth about the same time as my routes goes round Aysgarth before doing the Hawes lanes and back towards Ribblehead and Horton.

Perhaps meeting at Aysgarth would be a good idea

Think it's Horton in Ribblesdale we're staying, but not sure .. Juliet's sorting it .. :)

I'd rather do the whole route mostly 'cos at least one lane, near the start, appears to be bridleway but I haven't checked it properly yet, or online as to actual right of way! But having said that I'm easy .. coming up mainly to help Sue out and explain a little more about Memory map .. and for a break from home!!

Paul with my idea you would do the whole route. Just Neil would join us at Aysgarth instead of doing the whole route. They have driven the Settle lanes (I went with them at Christmas) They could then leave when they have had enough and we could continue with the rest of the route.

Would not affect your run, just the others join for part of it.

Sure they can confirm the bridleway one too, which one was it.

No worries, I'm easy.

The first lane out of Austwick, Crummack Lane. It's marked as a bridleway. it may be that it's a road/lane that also has bridleway rights, but I haven't checked it yet.

Yes :eek::eek:

Its not on trailwise, however it showed as a road on the North Yorkshire Council map, so I though it was a road rather than a lane.

To be honest its probably unecessary and just adds length but I thought it was worth looking at because it shows a ford :D

Oh aye, we'll still look at it ... ;)

NYD online map says it's currently a bridleway that it has 2 fords on it, one near the top, one in Wharfe, but no worries, see what the ground's like. It's marked as a road with bridleway, so we'll see what local signs say. That's exactly what recce's are about .. ;)
