D2 TD5 Tailgate hinge replacement

Hi all, I'm going to replace my tailgate hinges this weekend can anyone tell me please if it's best to un-bolt the hinges from the body first, to remove the door or from the tailgate & is it a three man job, sorry person,? Many thanks.
I forgot to mention the door will only open just enough for me to squeeze in but I have got an engine hoist so I will use that & the workmate. I've painted them before I fit them. I'll let you know how the fitting goes. Thanks all.

Not done it myself yet but i'm guessing you'll need to support the door very well and my idea for this was to use a workmate bench with a garage jack, or simply chock it off the bench, and a timber block slotted along its centre line to take the bottom seam of the door. Even so i'm pretty certain you'll need at least two people for the job, if only to steady the door.
I would be hoping to replace the hinges 1 at a time but I guess it'll depend how easily they come off.

Either that or some sort of a hoist and webbing. tis heavy as feck!
And yes, I'd do one hinge at a time too, makes lining it all up so much easier.
In fact I think a hoist as a safety thing and the jack on a workmate for precise control (good idea) is the route I'd go down cos I'd have to do it on my own, probs!

Dont forget the extra person to take the photos....
