There's a fair bit of wind noise coming from the top of my drivers door when driving at speed. (2000 Disco 2 TD5)

The door seal looks to be in good condition but I can clearly see that the door window frame is not making full contact with the seal toward the top of the window nearest the front windscreen post.

With the door closed, if I exert a little pressure at the top of the window frame there're a few mils of give and everything pushes in slightly.

Is this normal?

Can I adjust anything to pull the top of the frame into the car body a little?

Are the hex bolts on the door sides anything to do with this? - picture below:

I had a search about on here but couldn't find anything that looked like the same issue, please feel free to point me in the right direction if this has been done to death.

The hex bolts in the leading and trailing edges of the door hold the window frame in place but I'm not sure how much adjustment you'll get there. Worth a try though - just slacken the bottom ones a bit, put some inward pressure on the top of the window frame (see if the bottom hex bolt moves at all) then do 'em up and check the alignment.

Have you checked the alignment of the door against the front wing. May you could get some adjustment via the door hinges themselves?

Thanks for the door alignment idea - checked it and it's flush near the centre post, and slightly inward near the front wing (perhaps 1mm), if anything I'd expect it to be out if it was the cause?

Regarding the hex bolts, I just had a suck it and see session:

There's only 1 hex bolt, no top and bottom.

Loosening the bolt nearest the centre pillar (because I can get at it with my tools) offer some wiggle up on the frame and that side now appears to sit flush with the door seal.

I need to get a suitable right angle adapter to hold my hex bit in order to get at the hex bolt nearest the front of the car, hopefully the same wiggle will be available from there.

Whether this is the correct procedure I have no idea, and how long the frame will stay 'adjusted' remains to be seen.

Anyone in the know please chip in.
 
OK, well there's no real difference after that 'adjustment', the frame simply moves back to where it was after a few door open/closes.
 
ah just read through that... that isnt the issue solved... its like the door top is loose... the mirror vibrates and the top seems to move away at speeds above 50mph. door seal aint the problem

If you remove the door card there are more bolts lower down that hold the window frame,as they are lower down you will get more movement to tip the frame inwards at the top,one of my frames was loose and it was the lower bolts which weren't tight causing the problem.
