D2 air compressor:-(

Hi all, having only just introduced ourselves, it's time for a question lol.
Having just got a newish, ok 2nd hand, compressor for naky
How easy are they to fit??
We usually just bundle the boys off to the dealers, but I thought it was about time I started to get my hands oily again.
Reminds me of my Capri days lol
Is tfere any tricks?
Or is it really a pro job?
I've read up on it, but the other half gave it the 'are you sure you can do it' routine.
I had thought about coiling when the air springs went kaboom, but I've read some horror stories about type approval and all that.
Oh for the good old days.
So I've settled on staying with air.
Any advice would be much welcome

do you mean the whole compressor assy with valves and everything or only the pump alone?

It's the whole lot.
I'm assuming it's bolt of bolt on as such.
It's the getting shut of the existing air that's concerning me.
Also am I right that as with doing the air bags, u disconnect the battery so the system doesn't throw a spat.
The garage that did Roo's airbags didn't and ended up scratching their heads.

always disconnect battery when you work on the air suspension...that's the first rule...to release the air just slowly undo the two air supply pipes from the valves, or if you want a more sophisticated method unplug the electric connectors, improvise a wiring and give feed directly from battery to both air supply valves(10, 16) and the exhaust valve(8) all at the same time and it will be like when the management drops the back

The main problem when I did mine was the "captive" nuts in the plastic tray - which weren't. I found it was - just - possible to take the compressor off the tray (3 long bolts underneath through anti-vibration mountings) and replace it the same way. It's been like that for 3 years with no problems.

Make sure you block it up securely by the chassis to stop it landing on your head.......
