Cylinder Head removed ( Interesting )

Hi each and all - not been on for a while but due to the current circumstances I found the time to remove the noisey right hand side Cylinder Head on my 2006 RR Sport 2.7 TDV6 ( Very Easy Job )
I have enclosed images see what you think.

The old gasket is heavily coroded as can be seen in the pictures - my reason(s) for removing the Right Hand cylinder head was due to a tapping over 1500 RPM ( ON RIGHT BANK WHEN WARM ) and also excessive pressure in the coolant system along with smoke - I have pulled the valves and they do not show any damage and are all a nice snug fit - also the tapping is not the camshafts or rockers/tappets due to they are all brand new ( Land Rover ) so scratching my head a bit now as I was expecting more that just a few hairline cracks.

Any advice is appreciated Guys

Not sure what they are - but they aint good, Luckily I have just bought a lovely replacement head -and in my town ( Probably end up needing two ) this probably explains my coolant system constantly pressurising, still not sure what was causing the tap tap tap when warm above 1500 RPM - what is the best way to prepair the deck for the new gasket any ideas? also it is the same gasket that came off isnt it ( grade 2 ) to my understanding piston prortusion is not required in this scenario

All can make noise.

Just clean the deck of the block with a fine scourer, i use them Green pads you find on kitchen sponges, oh and brake clean is your best friend..
 
Hi we used to get cracks between valves on Leyland diesels, a good Engineering firm used repair ours with wedges and a bit of machining at a fraction of the cost of replacing the head. As has been said before your head gasket has blown.
 
Hi each and all - I have found a replacement head for the "Money Pit" the numbers match ( Almost ) can someone confirm this will fit mine even though the lower nubers/letters are not the same - Picture Enclosed

UPDATE - I got both cylinder heads off as you can see, the left hand side was a bit of a PITA but eventually got it off - however I have identified another problem and need advice, it looks like the blown head gasket across pots 1 & 2 have corroded the block sealing surface ( see pics ) to me it looks like the block will now need to come out ( I do love Range Rovers ) to be skimmed, I dont think it will be to dificult to get the block out as the heads are off - is there any slavage job I could do instead of pulling the block? or is it now going to be a COMPLETE engine rebuild and not just the head gaskets ( CRY ) also the gaskets that came off were GRADE 2 - ( 1.17mm ) I can go to a grade 5 ( 1.32mm ) depending on the piston protrusion, if required, do you think I will have enough to skim to keep within grade 5 specs as the pitting seems more than just fine.

Going on pic 3 of the latest set I'd say that's at least a block skim to hope to achieve a seal with a new gasket - assuming these can be skimmed in the first place as if not you might be looking for another engine.
 
Can anyone advise if the Crankshaft caps on the 2.7 TDV6 are matched to the block? I have found a cheap block but it doesnt have the crank caps - I have the crank caps of my engine but not sure if they are matched to the block like to con rods and con rod caps - thanks in adance.

main bearing caps are matched to a block,its scrap thats why its cheap

also watched a Utube video of an engine rebuild and didn’t realise that when the factory breaks the con rods they do that so there perfectly matched and warned about making sure there mated back together because of the unique pattern

everyday day is a school day
