Sorry for the legnthy post. Loosing the will to live with this now.

Hi all, currently have a problem with my td5 cutting power at 2800/3000rpm intermittently.
It first started at 2500, replaced the wastegate modulator and wiring as it was damaged, no difference.
Adjusted the waste gate rod to where it should be, can't remember what I set it to now but it's what I found on here.
Sorted it at 2500 but it has started at 3000rpm.
ECU harness clean, no splits that I can see in any hoses or pipes.
Waste gate rod is free as it should be I think
Fault coming up as turbo wastegate open load active.
Live data shows when it 'cuts' power the turbo module duty ration drops to 0 and then resumes to be normal when revs drop.

Anything else to try before changed the wastegate diaphragm & rod?

Thanks for reading any help greatly received.

Sounds like the wastegate may be sticking on the turbo. This isn't rare, sadly.
But there could be other electronic reasons.
Dodgy sensor(s) etc.
Have you tried simply disconnecting the MAF?
Although a MAF fault should show up on your diagnostic. As should other sensor faults.
Typical flipping electronix!
Best of luck.;)

Hi, If that code was retrieved with a reliable scanner not some generic one then you have to make a continuity test on the modulator's circuit...though that's not a specific LR code for a Td5 as you should have got overboost code cos if the wastegate modulator is open circuit it shoud be completely open so not a case of overboost cut-out.... first of all connect the pipe which goes to the modulator's bottom coming from the turbo pipe directly to the wastegate valve and if the symptom goes away then that's it, if bypassing the modulator has no effect we'll speak again...BTW what engine Eu2 or Eu3?

I've had a similar problem once upon a time which seemed to be to do with a cheap crank position sensor. I'd be merrily accelerating along a slip road to join 70 mph traffic and all of a sudden the engine revs would drop and the yellow engine light would go on. Switching of and then starting again would clear it. The Nanocom would record 'high speed crank error'. On swapping to a famous name brand crank position sensor the problem went away and hasn't come back touchwood.

Yours does sound more turbo related, but I thought I'd mention this as it involved some similar symptoms.

Apologies for the delay, for some reason Landyzone went into my spam folder so i didnt see any replies.
Eu2 10p
I have replaced the wastegate actuator, still the same, bypasses the solenoid and voila, problem gone.
Do you have a wiring diagram for the sensor, or at least can tell me which wire goes in to terminal on the plug, im sure i have it right as testing by polarity but better check eh?
The scanner i have is an Autel mk808 as i am a mechanic by day. This is just stumping me that unless it is a new faulty solenoid everything else checks out?
MAF disconnected
MAP Clean and working according to live data

Thanks, i will try to reply sooner next time.

I have a td5 engine with automatic transmission, Discovery 2. I want to install it on Discovery 2 petrol. Can it be installed on the bases?

i would just like to say to members what my problem was on my td5 when the engine light would come on , could start fine but the minute i pulled off light was on after many things changed and messed with , it was a broken wire on the crank sensor , so hard on this site to get past endless adds and to find the relevent page

You need to start your own thread in the relevant section.

The "endless ads" are not actually endless and as annoying as they seem they contribute considerably to the cost of maintaining the site.

You shouldn't have changed many things cos the EML on a Td5 can come on ONLY for two things: CPS or TPS signal failure nothing else and the TPS fault is obvious cos you dont have throttle response... though to know that all you have to do is to read the WsM's relevant section, takes max 20 minutes and it's easyer than digging through a forum if that's hard

On a mobile, use firefox browser app, and download adblocker plus. No adds.
