Water pump failed last week taken t rad with it , have a guy who ll built a copper core rad with brass tanks , would u change t flow of t rad by putting a pipe from t bottom up on t outside , would I t b a good idea or not and forget t complications of t baffle and t u design flow of t normal rad ,

If you are talking about the diesel may be a bit of a problem routing the hose from the bottom past the belts and fan.

Sorry , it's a DSE , if I remove t viscous fan and use datatek s tip for aircon fans for cooling I won't need t shroud, guy can put a tap in t rad for a temp switch and he thinks he'll be able to put a pipe up along t side to meet the top hose , reckons €400 will cover it , rads here vary from €235 up to 350, so at 400 t copper seems better value I think , as an aluminium from alli sport is 585 sterling plus vat and delivery , any thoughts anyone

if its a custom build you neednt use round pipe you could use a flattened section (as long as you maintain the x section area) which may give you more options

Genuine auto rad £282.00. Genuine Manual rad £324.00. Nissans dual purpose £150.00 .

Original radiator design is good, top and bottom tanks just needs to be replaced with fabricated metal ones. Just bleeding pipe and baffle needs to be made the same way as stock.

Just to update, new rad being built , unfortunately I ll be using my old plastic bottom , not really what I wanted but needs must at t moment, however new 4x core in copper and anew top tank in brass with a tapping for the Thermo switch for the fans, now has anybody any idea what temp switch to fit , I m looking at two at the moment 92/87 or 95/90, will 95/90 be too hot or will 92/87 be on low side any ideas welcome

Thermostat opens at 80 degrees red light comes on at 98 degrees.

Cheers wammers, so do you think I should go with an even lower switch say 90/85 , and I presume I can connect it into the black/blue wire close to t tri nary switch and this will turn on the fan through the relay, without any ill affect

Don't know i would use a standard rad and the viscous fan. The fans are controlled by two relays one for half speed and one for full speed i do know that.

Bit of a delay getting back, but the plastic bottom of my rad was leaking so I had to bite t bulleti and get a brass one made also, however all's well so far , new 4core copper and brass rad is fitted, and I took wammers advice by going with the viscous fan, temp gauge sits half way on a hard run and as soon as I slow down guage drops to 11 o clock position, water retiring to rad at about 79 degree and pipes show no pressure , have a Thermo switch fitted for future developments , couldn't believe the bottom of my old rad , 8 of the pipes had damage and one had been welded closed and this was new 4 years ago or so , I'd say it was a reject at some point. Anyhow back on the road

Some BMW had another temperature sensor/switch in head for emergency use of AC fan in case of viscous fan failure.
