Disco 2 Current stock of D2’s, am I delusional?

I gotta ask, am I delusional or are a lot of the current sellers of D2’s? Cause I’m seeing D2’s for like 3-4k that does not mention anything to do with welding the go-to places on a disco, it does mention about how all the filters have been changed, it’s had an expensive valet and been washed… as if I give a toss about filters, a valet and wash, child’s play!

I want to know if I’ve gotta spend a good few months messing about welding all over the place again and replacing parts that are worn cause the landy is actually garbage tarted up to ship to the next mug.. lol. There is 1 on auto trader for 5k that reads decent on parts replaced but not a word on welding and it ain’t an import but the pictures are just of the inside, i want mechanicals/chassis shots not seats!

Ok, not all D2’s will need tonnes of welding, right now at-least but they’ll need some and a lot more in future if things haven’t been done already. There is no way I will spend 5k on a D2 that isn’t galv with body welding needed or at the very least all the rust/corrosion points have been dealt with on the body then I can just galv it myself. Am I delusional or is that too big of an ask? I honestly only really care about the body as that’s not replaceable, then the drivetrain etc .. chassis can be replaced.

There’s D2’s on for 12k…. 12K!!! what… I can get a defender for that, are you mad!! Just gotta vent like, I honestly think a lot of the people selling the discovery’s actually know nothing about them mechanically, just had garages do it all and have plucked a price out of thin air… Ebay is the same too, all look way over priced.

Just looked at what a galv chassis costs now and it’s around 3k, was 2k last time I looked so probably 6k for a galv chassis one is realistic now not 5k. Also, I think I was right on one last night after reading it again LMAO! I reckon I’m going through a quarter life crisis, I do think some are still over priced though but not as many as I may have thought last night. 🤣

While we’re here though, what would you say is a realistic price for a 160k mile D2, nice bodywork, bit worn inside but not bad, auto td5 and decent service history. No galv and maybe like footwells been welded and that’s it. Thoughts, 3k?
 
Personally I think that in reality they are all overpriced. Expensive to own, run, fuel, tax, insurance and park now with emissions rated parking.
Galv chassis would be getting on for £10k fitted so the sellers would want good money for it.
£1500 tops for any in my mind.
 
Sellers market, if you want a maintainable LR which is easy to keep on the road, you have to pay for it.

As to Defender prices, a D2 is a much nicer place to be.

10k for galv chassis fitted… oh my god. if i was paying someone to fit a galv, i would anticipate never selling it in all honesty. I’ll just be waiting a while until i find one i’ll be happy with that’s ok price and needs some work but isn’t practically scrap like when i got my other. definitely was a mug getting that, baptism by fire lmao!

Bear in mind that they don't salt the roads in Japan so that rust may be a lot more superficial than it would appear.
