it will be attached to a lt230 with the 1.003 ratio, i didnt know about 2.83 diffs, tell me more....

Not a lot to tell really.
But it's the route I've gone down as I couldn't find a 1.003 lt230.
When the gearing is compared between,
1.003 transfer box and standard 3.54 diffs and
1.2 transfer box and 2.83 diffs, the difference is not a lot.
I have gear charts somewhere if they're of interest.

I guess it'd be even better geared if you used both :D
The problem is the availability of 2.83 crown wheels and pinions.
KAM make them, but haven't had any stock for a while, but speaking to others doing the conversion they have contacted them and are apparently having another batch made.

Thats going to be interesting engineering challenge putting that type of engine and allison in a space frame . or do you intend keeping a good chunk of the chassis ? Dont forget the cooler for the allison . do you intend trying to use other than a full auto shift ?

looking towards either tornado or tomcat spaceframe so keeping the original chassis. the autobox comes from my dislike of changing gear, i am a lazy driver, and the fact that the engine will come with an auto attached. in fact it will have everything, coolers, rad, intercooler and all the ancillaries.

Another consideration is where to locate the engine , probably better further back as its quite a heavy lump , and then that raises rear prop length questions , still the amount of "Grunt" wont be lacking :crazy_driver:

Props are an issue, or rear at least. I'd never get an auto in my 90.
Mid engine would be nice and balanced, but how longs the chassis going to be to give decent prop lengths.

dont know about chassis length either 100" or 110". prefer 110" for longer props and might leavesome load space in the back as well. still at the planning stage for now.

To give you an idea, in my 90 the engine is fitted 40mm from the front crossmember.
My rear prop is 570mm with the zf fitted, which is ok, but auto is longer.
Should be ok in 100" 110" though.

Ash's 110 is pure LR Porn.

There are plenty of 6bt auto's in truck breakers trouble is alison box is huge

Ashcroft were doing 1;1ish ratio kits for the lt230 a few years back
I wish I still had my cummins 6x6 , sold it to buy machinery. It was a cool old thing ,
I once did some work at duxford air museum and drove it down along side the runway to the first building where in flight service are. It had open stacks on it and people just stopped and stared at this thing that sounded like a road train but looked like a nasty old defender:D

Ashcroft still have them on their website but had no stock last time I checked, but I know someone else who will sell me what's needed if I want to change.
Problem I have is I'd already had my adapter gear made up, and the input gears are a different tooth count between 1.2 and 1.003.
Hence why I've gone down the 2.83's route.

And  Yes, road train, rather amusing actually :D Can't wait for mine to be on the road.
Have you got any pics of your old 6x6 Clive?

Only a bad one, the one with the engine in was with mock up piping to test the engine, somewhere I have the forms to make silicon hoses for the conversion

Ah, yep, I've seen you post the engine bay pic before, never seen the one of the actual 6x6. Like it :)

If you have the formers, offer to make people hoses, well if it makes money that is.
Gotta be better than then 3/4 bits of silicon hose cobbled together like everyone's doing at the mo.
Seriously, loads of people are wanting to do this conversion now, and if something will make life easier then I think some will buy it.
