To those of you suffering failure of the P38 Cruise Control used on the V8 due to split vaccum rubber tubing, I think I have a cheap & better fix.

The rubber hose "Bend" on mine split at where it pushes on to the "T" piece, the pipe goes from the "T" to the Cruise Control bellows. I have done the usual "Dodge" of cutting the split part off and refitting a couple of times, but it went again.
Rather than pay extortionate dealer price for a new bend, I bought a 1metre length of 6mm i.d. silicone vaccum hose from "Mr Silicone" on ebay....just do a search for silicone vaccum hose. Cost was £1.27 and postage was free, they shipped it the same day....you can buy any length.
The quality is superb and the 90 deg. bend does not kink the tube in any way as the wall of the tube is reinforced with cord. I feel sure that it will outlast the crappy rubber hoses anyday.

If anyone needs to join the hoses or replace the Nylon "T" piece....don't go to your Stealer, call into your local Aquatics shop....they sell nylon connectors and tees to suit 6mm i.d. plastic tube for pennies, plus they are usually open on a Sunday.

:)

Nice one. I tryed to cut the split end off, but it still dont work. Think I need to replace the complete hose. Will have a look at doin that, when I get the time.

Mine split a couple of times. But by putting a small cable tie on the cut off ends seemed to have stopped it happening again
