I’m looking at scaling back my gardening business and selling on my old 110 pick up.

I want to get rid of the need for a domestic car and pick up, so I thought I’d see if it was straightforward(ish) to get a county, and take the back off to create a pick up bed while retaining the seating configuration in the front and rear seats.

Anybody done this or know of a done one?

Cheers

Mark

I've read of people doing that a few years ago, the problem at that time was sourcing the DC parts particularly the roof I believe. There was a company making the roof From glass fibre iirc because genuine roofs were silly money or unobtainable second hand.

Sorry am I not being clear here- I don’t intend to remove the full roof, just cut off part of the back to firm a tub from the last third of the wheel base(last the second row of seats). Does that make sense?

I had a DC made from a SW. The roof will be your first issue. If you look at it carefully you will need that the roof on a DC doesn't just END, it curves down. So if you want it to look right, thats your first issues. I have seen ones before that have a rear roof curve from a single cab, riveted onto the cut normal roof. Looks ok, but it would take some work.

The next thing is the bulkhead, again on mine it was a piece of Alu Ch Plate that was riveted in with some alu angle and lots of sealant. Did ok BUT the upper rear was slightly curved at the sides (probably a single cab piece) and the 'bulkhead' to this piece didn't work. One was curved, one not. Lots of little sheets of Alu and sealant to make it work.

Apart from that there was nothing much else, except maybe the seat belt shoulder fixings.

it worked. looked good. But it leaked, and now I'm back to a SW and much prefer it. Nothing in the back was even remotely secure and it all got wet. I had a canopy, but then I realised that if I needed the canopy I might as well just have a full length body.
