So I spot a lovely looking Defender 110 TD5 Hard Top and think what a great addition it would be. I've spent the morning ringing round and the cheapest quote I had was £480 for a one-off payment.

This is for a second vehicle. Sureterm Direct who have had lots of business from me over the years quoted £1800!!!

I can't really justify £480 given it won't get that much use in any given year. Gutted, but I get a sense that premiums for our beloved marque is set to rise year on year.

Afternoon Hedgehog,

Certainly does sound like a great addition! :)

You may have read something in the news recently called the “Ogden Ruling” which is due to increase insurance premiums for you, the policy holder. This is a government move that the insurance industry as a whole didn’t want to happen.
Basically the formula for calculating compensation payouts for those that suffer long-term injuries (Ogden Ruling) is being tweaked by the Government meaning more compensation will be paid out by the insurers. The knock on effect is that the insurers have to increase their rates by between 10-20%, on average adding £75 to premiums.
The ruling has been called “crazy” by the insurance industry.
The raise will affect all motor insurers so it won’t just be Adrian Flux putting rates up, all insurance companies will be doing it. Those that have policies coming up for renewal will also notice the increase.

Have you tried us for insurance yet? Feel free to PM me and I'll give you a call.

Thanks
Jordan

I already have my Insignia and the wife's Cayenne with you!!
Put your phone number on the online enquires and start playing one off against the other. I had one recently wanted £220. Got them down to £142.50. So they would still make money at £142.50, they were just trying it on. Ended up taking a policy at £147.50 because i knew they weren't trying it on and it was a lower excess. And their brokerage fee.... £10.
I'm still waiting for @Adrian Flux to reply to my online enquiry btw, Jordan. Too late now though

Absolute madness. How many uninsured drivers will this force onto the roads....

Really your insurance in the UK is dirt cheap.
$150-$200 a month is very common. some drivers pay 4-5k a year. I would be happy as Larry if it was under $100 a month
You could insure 2 nice cars for that here.
I nearly bought a tvr cerbera v8 a few years ago. Was quoted around £500

Sorry to hear that! PM me at renewal and I'll personally see to it. If you don't mind could you PM me your name and post code? Just want to ensure there's not a fault on our system as we've not had any other complaints regarding it.

Thanks guys

I dont seem to have PM privileges so do you have an email?
I too have a 110 for insurance

David

Hi David,

I've sent you a PM myself, you should see an envelope at the top right of the LandyZone page with a red 1 next to it.. see if you can access that.

If not let me know and I'll post my email address, I'd just rather avoid it due to the spam risk!

Thanks

Jordan

@Adrian Flux what are the likely rates for younger landy owners, I'm not long 20 years old with 3 years NC's and running over £800, that's my previous insurer who probably insure 1 landy being a younger policy, never got round to trying AF :)

Insurance is a joke, my diesel 307 was quoted over a grand, l got a quote on my mates 2 year old BMW M4 and it was less than 400.
Landy not bad with Flux at 150 though.

Hi Ryan

To be fair, £800 isn't a terrible price based on those few details however come renewal time I assume you'll be 21 and all being well on 4 years no claims bonus. I'd be more than happy to quote you come renewal so just give me a shout. We're competitive on them and I'm sure we could help.

Thanks

What is the Insurance cover breakdown Standard Formula eg postcode, modification, insurer etc.

Difficult one saxavordian I'm afraid.

We prefer to avoid the 'computer says no' approach and will look at each and every case separately to ensure everything possible is done to price competitively.

There are obviously many factors that are involved with calculating a premium though, from age, post code, driving history, vehicle, use, annual mileage, modifications - Most of the information insurers ask for at quote stage is all combined to calculate your premium.

Hope that helps?

Jordan has looked into this for me.
Turns out bikesure are subsidiary / affiliated and i didn't realise their contact with me was as a result of the Adrian flux enquiry. I did quite a bit of comparing meerkats and i think bikesure prices were quoted, so assumed their call was from one of these comparison website.
So apologies to Jordan @Adrian Flux

It's no issue, I'm glad I could dispel any uncertainty :)

But yes, just to clarify as I'm sure some of you have bikes/quads - All motorcycle insurance is handled by Bikesure; Adrian Flux's specialist motorcycle department.

If anyone needs help with motorcycle or quad insurance, I can arrange this too!

Thanks

Just renewed Insignia with Adrian Flux. Landy 110 will have to wait.

I do like the FlexDrive option. Very handy
