Hi all,
I have just started stripping out the crankshaft bottom pulley
the first issue could not find the Woodruff key, seems some did not have them fitted?
so will it be ok to put it back without one? and the other thing I can not find a listing for the short belt
that runs off the bottom pully, I think it drives the a/c or alternator? so any info on that too would be good.
Thanks guys, and Happy New Year to you all

Woodruff certainly not present on TD4. Lower belt drives a/c only. Should find it easily on ebay. Bolt has a tightening procedure. Torque then in degrees. Very very tight!!!

Make sure you have correct size tensioner spanner or you'll round nut / remove knuckles or worse! 15/16 inch from memory and fit it then jam bit of wood on top to prevent it slipping off. This is for the long belt. Short belt tensioner is easier. Check this site for the belt routing guide if you need to. Good luck.

Is that long belt one of those spring tensioned types, where you just put the spanner on and turn it ?

Yes sounds simple! However get the wrong spanner and you are in trouble as the nut is very thin. Trap the spanner against the chassis rail as it is very tight to turn. Don't get your fingers between belt or pulley whilst fitting in case tensioner slips. Again, good write up on here how to do it.
