I have recently done an engine change following failure of cambelt causing catastrophic damage, Since the newer engine has been put in it won't start (turns over but won't fire) whilst removing the old engine I damaged the crankshaft sensor plug (2 of the 3 cables have come dislodged from the plug its self) Can anyone tell me which cable goes in which position ie: the black cable is on the outside of one side of the plug, which colour is in the central position the green or the pink? once I know and plug it back in I'm hoping it will fire up, I can replace the plug with a new one but would rather know its that before I going buying any more new parts as I have forked out a lot in the last few weeks! Many Thanks :)

is yours car the earlier one as mine is a 2006 and the wire are as follows as you look at it in place red left light brown middle and dark brown right

It's the older version a 98, the wires I have are pink, green and black. The black is still in the plug it's just finding out which way round the pink and green go. I forgot to mention its the wiring loom end not that actual sensor plug. I don't really want to have to buy a whole new loom just to find out which way round they go, trial and error is an option but with the placement of the sensor being down the back of the engine it's difficult to get to.
Thanks for your time and reply, hopefully someone will know and I'll be back on the road shortly! :)
