Not really familiar with the later LR engines.aa said crankshaft is broken any ideas maybe new engine req trying to keep cost low
Yes mate you are sort of right but unless you have a look you don't know to what extent things are damaged, most workshops would not bother pulling apart to look, this guy sounds like he can't afford to scrap his car so I feel it is wise to check to see what can be recovered. The saying you can't make a silk purse etc,etc applies, why spend a whole heap of money on a complete new or even used engine if, for the price of a second hand crank and some bearings the engine can be recovered. I guess it all comes down to abilities and labour costs.Broken cranks in engines (not specifying this engun but a lot of engun) often result in spun bearings and stuffed bearing bores, so don't bank on being able to take it apart and put a new crank and bearings in
Be careful what you put on that siteHi I have a discovery 3 2008 with a seized engine. I contact Land Rover to be told the vehicle has high mileage at 128K and they think I have had my moneys worth out of the vehicle so no assistance from land rover.
They also said they have not seen many engines seized but at £4,200 for a engine plus fitting i am not surprized.
I have got a domain, LandRoverSeizedEngine.com and will create a web page where a document can be download and details like vin no. , year problem etc are sent back to me and i will create a list of the info sent back and give it to land rover at a show.
What do you think?
