hi all--and thanks again for advice on removing c-shaft bolt in july--i have just had another go at it--but this time with a home made tool--3 clouts with a lump hammer and it was off!! it took 20mins to make out of a old ring spanner, a 3in extencion bar (1/2in drive) and 18in of solid bar--1in dia--i would send a photo--but i am new to computers--but i have found a hole in the timeing case--just under the c shaft drive--its about 10-12mm in dia--does it need blocking up?--and wot should i block it with dear hazel-dear hazel--thanks --allen

That's the drain hole, and is blocked with a screw plug but only if your going wading in deep water. Ratts waldershelf beat me to it.

On mine the wading plug is stored in a threaded hole next to the actual drain hole. Just unscrew and fit when you're likely to be near water. That is, if it hasn't fallen off or been lost by the previous owner. You can leave it fitted and check periodically for oil- there's some space in the timing case where oil can collect without affecting the timing belt.

mmmmm--sounds like a lash up--go to town sealing the cam belt in--and then leave a hole in the botom--i live on a farm, so it gets used in floods ect, for the last 10 years i havent had a clue it was there--i have rung paddock motors and they said that it was on the computor as a plastic pin, but they dont carry it, so i think i will leave well alone-thanks anyway for your help, and advice--pilot to belly gunner--bailing out---allen
