Could this be my way to owning a Range Rover Sport, or just a can of worms

Yeah that makes sense

but you got then no come back if its a crock I got my p38 spares or repair and though not new as this one I looked at 3 or 4 before I decided.

I am watching the market with interest at the moment as with the new tax rules prices have dropped 50% on ebay and after Christmas they will be a lot cheaper as it always is. I would be wary but i get the feeling you are tempted so if he is going for the newer models and just wants to clear then he will do a deal on what hes got

From the photos it's sitting on his drive. It looks like it's been bought from a scrapper (yellow marker on the rear window). He's either realised he's in far deeper than anticipated or he's found something seriously wrong. He'll spout whatever BS necessary to put a buyers mind at ease and flog it, probably for a profit. The world is full of lying, devious bastards, 2nd hand car dealers are high up the league, especially those on ebay.

As has been said, spend more on one that works already, that one looks like a financial bottomless pit of death.

Plus by the time you've 'restored' it, the model will have depreciated even more.

And, if he's some sort of dealer, why is all his positive ebay feedback as a buyer? The only negative feedback is him as a seller.

Hi
Its a CAT D
He's priced the parts individually at a grand total of 11k......I replied That's the way to go.....but that's when he explained his intentions to concentrate on the newer models....and selling the parts separately would take to long....hence job lot
He's bull****ting you and hoping you solve his problem.

Hi
Thanks everyone for you opinions, and may I say I think your right!
I was tempted been an Engineer, I also think I can solve most problems and if not find someone to help.
Assuming I had bought it, does anyone know what problems problem's I would have faced.
A few people has commented that I would have problems selling, well I could live with that, but nobody has gone into details about the journey building it......just curious!!!!!!

You could have faced literally any problem imaginable. If a car is bought in pieces you have zero confirmation that anything at all works. And that's before you start fitting a different engine to the one the car came with originally.

Hi
Thanks everyone for all your replies!
Not many responded to actually specific problems I would face with this project, I think we all realise looking at this project as whole would frighten most of us. Its like most thing, you may have to break it down in phases and complete each phase as you go, this also give you time to research the next set of problems going into the next phase.
I will try and negotiate a totally ridiculously low price, I don't hold up much hopes because of the individual parts worth.
I will let you know what happens............but until then will you all start revising the Range Rover Sports Workshop Manual, and I do great cooked breakfast for all who comes to helps......lol!

You are a sucker for punishment, you cannot do the electronics in phases, it's all interlinked and has Saint.V8 has found, just one little thing will prevent access and also cause havoc.

That's because you are buying a bunch of parts with no idea whether any of them work. As I said, you have to be prepared for any part to be non-functional, missing, broken or not fit. There are no specific problems that we can highlight because everything on this project is a potential problem.

By the time he's built the jigsaw, it will be classed as a veteran vehicle and eligable for the veteran car run:eek:
