Could this be my way to owning a Range Rover Sport, or just a can of worms

can of worms me thinks. a bodyshop i worked for bought a supercharged one when prices were high. after repairing it they lost £25k.

You have no real idea of the condition of all the parts because you can't see anything working.. you could be carefully building a heap of trouble & expense if it has say transmission faults or something.. a project not to be attempted on a budget!

Hi
I have spoken to the seller and he is in the salvage trade, he has indicated to me that he's now moving more into the newer Sport, Evogue models and would like to clear these parts as a job lot, the parts are from different cars, but has stated that modules and looms etc are from one car.

Hi
What price would this be have to be to take it on, opinions please?.....maybe 3K...wouldn't I get my money back if it goes pear shape?

We all know the nuts and bolts aren't the problem, we all can do these, so what are we all afraid of......please be specific and not just scared of the whole project

And salvage/ breakers yards are well known for their honesty, give it a wide berth.

Sounds like you are going into a world of pain, getting the electronics from different vehicles to talk to one another will be just one of the problems and the electronics are way more complicated than a P38 or even an L322.

Hi Colin

I dont know much about mechanical side but resale I am good at, is it registered as CAT c or D I would assume so therefore your resale if going to be bottom dollar on the model and year your buying.

It sounds iffy to me, if you are going to need a lot of equipment and such it may be worth waiting for something to come along after christmas when prices are shot. The second hand market is under going a major shift at the moment and the only thing holding prices are specials and rare ones

There are plenty of spares or repair just do a weekly check on the salvage yards if you go for the 07 pay bottom dollar because you dont whether the spares they have mesh unless you can get some sort of warranty guarantee they will trade up working parts

Hi
Its a CAT D
He's priced the parts individually at a grand total of 11k......I replied That's the way to go.....but that's when he explained his intentions to concentrate on the newer models....and selling the parts separately would take to long....hence job lot
