Well shes home and ive bodged her so i can comfortably drive her without getting cold and wet! Also started enquiring about panels, and been to the bodyshop i go to. So well on the way to a happy future with my defender :)
Anyway, what i need to ask is... just been having a good check over and put the steering to full lock and... it rubs! The left tyre rubs against a big piece of chasis (have no idea what it is?), at the back of the wheel when on full left lock. The right wheel has no rubbing. Anyone know what this could be? Left hand side was the side of the roll over :s
Hope this isnt gona be terrible news! Cheers, Chris

that'll be the Front radius arm which keeps the axle straight in the chassis. I had 235/75/16 amazon muds on. and the right hand wheel rubbed on full lock.

Not sure if it rubbed before the accident :s? Ive got 265/75/16s on mine. Right wheel is fine. Was in Groombridges at Heathfield for few days with diff probs a few weeks ago; they had the front apart so im sure they would have spotted a problem if it was rubbing. Is worse case if its caused by the roll a bent radius arm? or something worse? Really hope not. Im skint!

A cheap laser line tape or level or a long straight edge will tell you if it's bent. Replacement arms are cheap enough on Ebay. Id be inclined to check all the steering components as you may have bent the treack rod or draglink. And thrown the steering out.

its pretty damn impossible to write off a defender, or series to be honest. Even with a bent chassis you can get a new one
