My disco cost me £4K and change. 5 new BFG ATs is £570. Uprated suspension kit is £600 [http://www.devon4x4.com/products_a/k17c160/discovery-2-suspension-package/0.html]. Braided brake lines £65 [http://www.devon4x4.com/products_a/p2039c76/0/stainless-hoses-discovery-2.html]. So there's £1235.

If I went bigger on tyres, I'd either need to cut the original bumper up, or fit a new bumper at 410 quid [http://www.devon4x4.com/products_a/p12956c43/0/d44-discovery-2-non-winch-bumper.html] and because this would mean that the washer bottle would stick out below the bumper line and look stupid, as well as getting in the way, a new washer bottle at 107 sovs [http://www.devon4x4.com/products_a/p526c/0/d44-slimline-washer-bottle-for-disco-2.html]. An extra 517 quid, bringing the total up to £1752.

That's 43% of the cars original cost! Adding these bits will add nothing to the value of the car at all. Seems to be a totally illogical thing to do, but yet there are a huge array of firms staying in business who are catering to people who do just this!

Next week, I'll have justified all this and my Disco will have heavy duty springs and shocks to go with the new tyres ;)

BUT how many of those mods are actualy nessesary?? theres no substitute for good offroad driving skills.....or so im told anyway :)

When i finally fix all the stupid little things wrong with my disco 2 I'll be modding till the money runs out.....or the wife leaves me lol

£225 my bumper was too, just took the bottle off and rerouted it up by the turbo! Ive got a small bottle from a 200tdi disco to replace it soon but havent got round to it yet!

The fact is if you're adding mods then chances are you're not aiming to sell the Disco any time soon, but to spoil yourself and enhance the car ... if you do end up selling, then it's best to sell the mods separately (if you've kept the original parts that is) ... unless you find a numpty who is blinded by said mods.

So far I've spent more on repairs and mods than what I paid for the Disco and I still have a list of things I want to repair/mod:D, biggest problem I've found is the sodding Mrs. who can't understand why I spend more on the Disco than her:rolleyes: + we've had the discussion about "should we ever divorce, you take that F***ing LR with you"

Yes it's illogical, but to be fair it is also a hobby for many of us, and the satisfaction you get from modifying and upgrading your vehicle is immense.
