At present I have a dico 1 1996 (160k miles) vintage have replaced boot floor, sills ,wheel arches x 2, replaced offside front inner wing, very good (some renewed) running gear, no leaks in sun roofs, all electrics work. Paint (white) tired. Thinking of changing to a disco 3, 2004 - 2006 (lower road tax) hate paying tax.
Any advice on insurance cost have full no claims, retired, age 3score + 16. wife same spec.
I realise that Disco1 has insurance rate band of 13, Disco 3 has a rate band of 33?
Some enlightment would be appreciated.
If no change of vehicle, would a remap be advisable, if possible?

My 06 Metropolis model is 390 I think could be had for 300 but I was to lazy to swap! what insurance band its in I havent a clue, it is the 500 quid a year tax version though.
I pay the tax monthly 43 quid I think and I wouldnt make that the only reason to choose a car as the difference cant be more than 15 quid per month which is 3.75 per week which isnt even a pint down the local!

Just checked its group 37

just swapped from flux at £580 (then reduced to £410) to Brentacre, with 7 years NCB, it cost £350 with protected NCB

I forgot my ncb was zero as I had been running around in my 90 on a classic policy for 4 years and classic policies dont make ncb, so my first year with zero ncb was about 320 then next year was 390 with all of 1 yrs ncb, which just goes to show ncb and protected ncb aint worth a poor wnak!
Must be due again soon with 3yrs ncb cant wait

Dont mind me asking how old are you as that sounds dear to me?

hi mate

i’m 51 , it’s a LBR London postcode i think that makes all the difference

when i first got my disco i was getting some shocking quotes starting at £1,500 , took me while to shop around and get a half decent quote , have a clean licence as well and held a full licence for over 25 x years

another reason i didn’t buy a HSE due to the higher ins costs , lol

Im 48 and ME15 postcode might be worth you getting a quote just to compare, be interesting to know?

redone it and left everything the same apart from the post code , came up £150 cheaper so goes to show how how much cheaper ur post code is

time to move i think, lol

I wouldnt bother it seems in the last couple of years the whole of London is moving down to Kent.
