Finally got round to removing both rear wheels and inspecting the brakes - can't belieeve how corroded they are. Anti squeek plates on both sides had completely rusted away one of the pins was in 2 pieces.
Guess I should replace the calipers aswell as ended up brushing away a lot of rust and the head of the top bolts look probably half the size they started out to be.
Is it quite normal for the brakes to be this rusty if not wonder where the motors been stored (btw is currently sorn I've never driven it!)

Same thing on our 95 Disco, the rear calipers were rusted up quite badly & the pistons seized in (common fault). When I eventually got the the brake pads out they literally fell apart!! Brake pads looked like they'd been changed recently by the previous owner, but rust since then had caused everything to weld themselves together:doh:

I probably could've cleaned them up but did'nt want to chance them failing. So new calipers, brake pad's, brake pipes & a p'd off wife minus her intended new washing machine. Biggest problem I had was getting the brake pipe nipples out of the calipers. All in all for a 14 year old LR it was'nt too much of a shock though.
