Morning all,
My 2011 RR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 cooling fan wouldn't shut after my wife used it the other day. As a result the battery is now flat and she can't unlock the doors to get to the bonnet release to get it on charge.
My question is, what could cause the fan to keep running? Temp was normal with no warning lights.

The TDV8 has a viscous type cooling fan so only runs with the engine.
So first need to identify which fan she is talking about.

Tell her to use the key to get in and open the bonnet, its hidden in the fob and the lock is in the passenger door on RHD cars (apparently) either way if she looks at the door handle covers she will see a little lock symbol on 1 of them and that bit of the cover flips of with the key uncovering a conventional lock.

Thanks butty, She's tried the key but the little flap on the door handle won't open. My son, who owns his own garage, is going to pop in late I hope. As soon as its up and running I'm selling it

Ok maybe shes not being rough enough;).
Do you have a 13 pin tow socket as enough power can be put in that way which could then make the remote key work.

Oh no, she's not a rough sort at all :D:D
There is a tow socket but I don't have a connector. My son will sort hopefully sort it. Just need to tackle the occasional 'Engine System Fault' next. That comes and goes. Being so far away is frustrating!!

Ok good luck with it, How olds the battery, faults that come and go but dont seem to do anything are often the beginnings of a battery getting tired.

Dont need a connector just need to know which pin to stuff 12v in;).

And I fully understand the frustration with being away. It always breaks when your away dont it?.

The battery was new last year at a cost of £300+.
Last year of being away. Had enough of Saudi Arabia

Update. It appears its the internal heating/cooling fan that kept running.

Wonder if your getting issues from the "hedgehog".
It appears to have a permanent live to it.
Here have a look and pass to your son if he doesn't have.

Thank you. I'll pass them on to him. If it comes on when he gets the battery connected then i'll know for sure

Quick update. Another RR owner has told my son his RR had exactly the same issue and it appeared it was the alternator. All issues went away after a new alternator was installed. So guess what's happening this week (hopefully). And if it solves it the RR is gone!!!!

Quick update. It was a fan resistor that was kaput. That was replaced with the BMW one which also failed. An OEM sorted the issue. However it now has a potential fuel rail issue. So I’m selling it as is. Going to lose a shed load of money on it but I want it gone
