Coolant temperature sender Series 3 2.25 diesel question.

Guidoma from downunder with a question on the coolant temperature sender for a Series 3 2.25 litre diesel.
My 1964 Series 2A 109 landy had a Series 3 2.25 diesel installed at some time during its previous life.
Anyway I thought the engine coolant sender was a capillary type, but when I removed it it appeared to be an early electric type, as what I thought was a broken capillary tube (broken off at the top of the sender unit) appears to have a stub of electric wire in it and not a hollow capillary tube.
I unscrewed the sender unit from the head and found that although it appears to be two sections of with the top and bottom threaded together be threade together and the there are exposed threads along the outside of the sender, both parts appear to be brazed together as I could not unscrew the top and bottom.sections of the sender no matter how hard I tried.
The bottom section of the sender which screws into the head is 1/2 inch Whitworth (thread section into head being almost 1 inch in diameter) while it appears the upper section nut where the capillary tube or wire goes appears to be around 13/16 AF.
Would anyone know if the original Series 3 temperature sender was an electric or capillary tube type. There appears to be the remsins of a bracket for a 52mm dial gauge on my dash, next to the oil gauge bracket, but no capillary tube or wire, so I don't know what it was as the temp gauge of the original 2A dash doesn't work. Also are the fittings available so I can replace the sender unit in my engine? At this stage when I do come to replace it I am thinking of using an electric sender unit with a 52mm Smiths gauge.

You can see the part numbers you need for original S3 electrical sender and adapter below
If you use a 3rd party temp gauge then you may have problems with calibration as the resistance change with temperature is set for the s3 gauge
I’m to sure about the 2a gauge you will need to check the manual which you will find here

Series 3 should be electric. I know mine is.
Not that I use it. I have a simple chinesium temp pickup taped to the top radiator hose with the LCD readout in the cab.

I forgot to attach photos of the sender unit.

As there are no temperature warnings on my 2A dash or instruments, presumably the remains of the other 52mm bracket would have housed a temperature gauge at some point.

Very much appreciated for the diagram and the direction you have sent me.
Confirms the temperature sender was electric, as was probably the missing gauge from the bracket on my dash.
Looks like I will have to get at least the threaded bush that screws into the engine head and then an electric sender to screw into it which is compatible with an electric Smith's gauge.
