So i've got a pretty heavy coolant leak on a Defender TD5 03. Around two drips per second.

It looks to me like its coming from a small circle on the engine block, just behind the alternator.

Does anyone have any idea whether:

A) That magic crack filling fluid you add to your coolant will stop it.

B) What it is that the circle cutout is.

C) Where the leak is coming from if it's not that.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Try posting it in Defender section if I was you! ;)

Having just spent ages going through my cars cooling system. I would strongly recomment getting a coolant UV Kit, chuck that into the cooling system run the car a bit and shine to torch on the engine and it will light up where you have the leak.

Or stick a picture up here so we can see where you are talking about. But if its a circle on the block that sounds like a core plug to me.

The leak fluid is something like K Seal or Steelseal etc, lots about google them.

Also if you know someone who has a pressure tester stick that on, its will help pressurise the system so you can see what done for. I have one and I ended up raplacing the radiator and 4 pipes all leaking when pressurised.

Try to avoid using sealants in your cooling system, just fix it properly as that will prevent any future issues with sealant clogging radiator / heater matrix. You may be looking at a core plug leak which is a fairly easy and cheap replacement as long as access to it is ok.
