Hi, does anyone know if i can use pink coolant instead of green in my1986 2.5D n/a?
Save me buying two different types all the time.
Thanks.

There used to be a difference IAT-v-OAT and your coolant maybe the 'old' type.

I use the pink/OAT in my 300tdi.
If I was you I would drain the sytem, fill with water, run the engine until it gets to operating temp, let it cool. drain, fill with water and repeat (important, let it cool between fills, takes a few hours).
After the 3rd drain i'd pour in 5ltrs of antifreeze and top up with water.
Supposedly lasts for 100,00K miles or 5 years.

I think OATS was 10 year life, that was one of its big selling points, pretty much the life of many a modern car.

Inorganic Acid Technology (IAT), - IAT is mainly used in older vehicles, is usually bright green, and has to be replaced every 30,000 miles.
Organic Acid Technology (OAT), = OAT antifreeze/coolant is usually orange, yellow, red, or purple, and lasts much longer — 150,000 miles — but doesn’t contain any silicates or phosphates for additional engine protection
and Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) -
HOAT antifreeze/coolant is typically orange or yellow and can last for 150,000 miles.

ethylene glycol, seems to be the most common -

Mixing incompatible antifreeze types can lead to chemical reactions that may cause the formation of deposits

the last sentence should scare you into just getting two different bottles
